Analysys Mason Group grows core telecoms revenues by 26 percent

Analysys Mason Group, a division of Datatec, has experienced another strong year, increasing its revenues to USD61 million from USD60 million in the previous year. This was achieved despite the ending of a significant multiyear project to roll out a third generation wireless network for a UK mobile operator, which was completed at the start of the year.

Revenues from the Group’s core telecoms consultancy business improved significantly, with a 26% growth to USD44 million (2006: USD35 million). Rapid geographical expansion of the Group’s activities has resulted in revenues from clients outside the UK rising from 37% to 55%.

Analysys Mason Group was formed in 2004 by the combination of Analysys Consulting, Analysys Research, Mason Communications and Catalyst IT Partners. The Group continues to benefit from synergies as the business achieves further integration, and revenues from cross-Group projects now account for 17% of total revenues.

"Analysys Mason has invested heavily in the year on its ICT infrastructure and has made a number of key strategic appointments across the group and around the globe," said Simon Jones, CEO of Analysys Mason Group.

New senior appointments have included Tony Lavender (Managing Director of Analysys Research), Mike Grant (Head of Analysys Consulting’s Broadband and Media practice), Phil Todd (Head of Custom Research in Analysys Research) and Jason Kowal (Head of Analysys Research in the USA). Other strategic appointments have included Harry (‘Chip’) Shooshan and Jeff Rohlfs as Principal Consultants at Analysys Consulting’s office in Washington DC.

Due to continued expansion, Analysys Mason Group recently moved its London headquarters from Farringdon to an address at Bush House in Aldwych (home to the BBC World Service).

"Analysys Mason Group is now well placed to take advantage of current growth in the telecoms, media and technology sector, which is being driven by an increasing emphasis on media, networked IT and fixed–mobile convergence issues, plus growing global regulatory and consolidation activities," said Jones.

The Group is a division of Datatec, which this week announced for the fifth successive year increased revenues, profit and earnings, with revenues for the year estimated at USD3.2 billion. Datatec focuses on international ICT networking and related services, and has operations in many of the world’s leading economies. The main lines of business of Datatec companies comprise: the global distribution of advanced networking and communications convergence products (Westcon); ICT infrastructure solutions and network integration (Logicalis); and telecoms strategy consulting (Analysys Mason Group).
