Gartner, Inc. today announced Komerční banka as the winner of its Business Intelligence (BI) Excellence Awards in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The award, which recognises the company that most clearly demonstrated excellence in its BI initiatives, was presented at the Gartner Business Intelligence Summit 2010, held in London on 1-2 February.
Three finalists selected by Gartner, including EuroChem, JD Williams and Komerční banka presented their case studies to more than 700 delegates who voted to select the winner of this year’s awards.
“The quality of submissions this year was very high,” said Neil Chandler, research director at Gartner. “Komerční banka stood out because it demonstrated in very clear terms how it was able to use technology for quantifiable business benefits. It showed that BI is not a one time investment but that transformation happened over several years.”
The Gartner BI Excellence Awards attracted submissions from 24 organisations incorporating more than 38 countries across EMEA, representing industry sectors including financial services, government, education, healthcare, manufacturing, hi-tech, telecommunications, utilities, travel/hospitality, media/entertainment and retail.
About the awards
Gartner’s BI Excellence Awards recognised outstanding BI initiatives based on how successfully the organisations have embraced each of the components of Gartner’s BI and performance management (PM) framework, helping organisations to optimise the value of BI, analytics and PM initiatives.
