The Consumer Electronics Association today launched CEMarketMetrics.org, a portal delivering in-depth US market tracking reports and customized data analysis on CE products. The portal is an enhanced version of CEA's well known Market Activity Reports and Analysis (MARA) service.
CE MarketMetrics tracks shipments of more than 50 CE products from the factory to U.S. consumer sales channels through weekly and monthly reports. This data helps companies measure current market trends and compare sales against industry performance.
CE MarketMetrics reports, which reflect the total U.S. market, are compiled from manufacturer shipment data reported securely and confidentially to CEA through the new data portal. The site also allows customers access to standard market tracking reports as well as analysis tools to create custom data reports that can be exported in a variety of formats including MS PowerPoint.
“CE MarketMetrics represents a strengthening of CEA’s historic statistical program that has served the industry for more than 80 years,” said Steve Koenig, CEA’s director of industry analysis. “Our new custom analysis tools take the program to a whole new level, enabling customers to tailor reports to suit their business needs. Companies that participate in CEA’s industry data program now have an even stronger advantage in the marketplace.”
CE MarketMetrics also provides access to historical industry information. Through simple keyword searches, participants and subscribers can search decades of CEA industry sales data, explore years of research studies and access relevant industry news from a single source. The site also features a blog highlighting data analysis and industry observations from CEA analysts, current market news and updates pertaining to the data program.
CEA has an 80 year history of objective market research and is relied upon for industry sales data by the technology community, financial markets, the media and economists. CEA’s market research department serves CEA and its members in several key ways including more than 30 consumer research studies a year as well as the semi-annual CE Sales and Forecasts, which provides a six-year snapshot of unit sales, dollar sales and average product price and is available to CEA members for free.
