Wainhouse Research recently named William "Will" Zachmann Senior Analyst of the Enterprise Social Networking (ESN) practice area. Zachmann will have an immediate impact on Wainhouse coverage of this emerging area of enterprise collaboration. He has provided market research, analysis and consulting to the industry through his own practice, Canopus Research, and earlier through META Group, IDC and several leading industry publications.

Zachmann's research focus over the past decade has been on Web 2.0, social networking, software development platforms and tools, and the crucial emerging technologies of virtualization and virtual reality worlds. He actively participates in social networks such as Facebook and virtual worlds such as Second Life.

Wainhouse Research believes that as social networking crosses over from consumer to enterprise use, vendor and end user organizations need expert assistance evaluating opportunities, planning, picking the best products and services, and productively deploying the technology. The company expects Zachmann to enhance its coverage of ESN.

In addition to his role at Canopus Research, Zachmann served as Vice President, Server Infrastructure Strategies Service at META Group (now Gartner, Inc.), as Senior Vice President, Corporate Research at International Data Corporation (IDC), and as Director of Research for The Forum Corporation. He is also a well-known columnist for magazines like PC Magazine, Computerworld, InfoWorld, Redmond Developer News, and many other industry publications.

Will Zachmann is a graduate of Harvard College with graduate study at Harvard University.
