Yankee Group recently announced that Jennifer Pigg has rejoined the company as vice president of Enabling Technologies research. In her new role, Pigg will focus her research on the emergence of Anywhere connectivity through network infrastructure and other hardware technologies.

Pigg will report to Ashvin Vellody, senior vice president of Enabling Technologies research.

“Jen brings with her unique expertise on the core network transport technologies that are an integral part of the Anywhere revolution,” said Vellody. “Her addition to our team will strengthen our focus and knowledge on the challenges to network hardware infrastructure as global connectivity increases.”

Pigg, Vellody and the Enabling Technologies team will work to provide clients with innovative research on how vendors and service providers must evolve the networks to stay current as the Anywhere revolution unfolds.

“Anywhere connectivity is an emerging revolution that will force our current technologies to evolve,” said Pigg. “I’m delighted to be here at Yankee Group and at the forefront of Anywhere network research.”

Pigg brings 20 years of experience with network convergence, policy management, IP services and hardware, and optical networking to her leadership role. She previously worked at Yankee Group for 12 years, from 1989 to 2001, ending her first tenure as the executive vice president of Carrier Convergence Infrastructure. Prior to joining Yankee Group, Pigg was a manager of network planning and strategy for Wang Laboratories’ corporate data network. She began her career at Wang Laboratories as a coordinator for the domestic and international rollout of their packet network, connecting more than 250 locations in 14 countries. She has also held a role in the IT research and development division of Commercial Union Insurance Companies.

Pigg earned her bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. She is a highly regarded speaker at industry events, and is frequently cited in the popular and trade presses.
