AMR Research Recruits Dr. Stephen Stokes for Expanded Sustainability Coverage

AMR Research has recruited Dr. Stephen Stokes as Vice President of Business and Climate Change. Dr. Stokes, an internationally recognized environmental scientist, will cover the convergence of sustainability, the risks and opportunities in the emergent low carbon economy, and business processes and operations. He replaces John Davies as head of AMR's sustainability coverage. Separately, AMR Research announced the discontinuation of The Green Alert.

Dr. Stokes brings more than 20 years of experience in geologic and environmental science, carbon management, and compliance to his role at AMR Research. Most recently, he was a company director at CarbonGroup, Resource Management Technology Group, and Andrew Stewart, New Zealand-based carbon management, compliance software, and resource management consultancy firms, respectively. Prior to these roles, Dr. Stokes worked as an environmental manager at Perry Aggregates in Hamilton, New Zealand, and was a Dean at Oxford University. He has also served on a number of national and international scientific advisory boards.

“AMR Research has been studying sustainability and the global supply chain for many years,” said Kevin O’Marah, chief strategist at AMR Research. “We are thrilled to have Dr. Stokes joining us to integrate our research on supply chain leadership with hard core environmental science.”

Dr. Stokes has published more than 90 articles and generated more than $8.6 million in research funding. He has served on a number of national and international geographical, geological, and environmental advisory bodies. He holds an MBA from the University of Auckland and Doctorate from Oxford University.

“The opportunity of working with AMR Research and its clients at such a crucial time in the transformation of the economy is both fantastic and unparalleled,” said Dr. Stokes. “Business process improvement lies at the core of AMR Research’s coverage. Embedding sustainability within core corporate strategy, and the direct internalization of carbon and other environmental variables, represents an array of challenges and opportunities for the contemporary corporation.”

Separately, AMR Research announced the discontinuation of its sustainability newsletter, The Green Alert. The Green Alert is being replaced by a subscription offering closely linked to the company's expanded "green" research and advisory services.
