He is also an avid blogger. Winthrop told Tekrati he plans to continue his personal blogging at Enterprise Mobility Matters and join David Mercer as a Strategy Analytics company blogger.
Prior to joining Strategy Analytics this month, Winthrop was founder and principal analyst of Enterprise Mobility Matters, a consultancy focused on helping its customers better understand how emerging mobility solutions impact the enterprise. He helped mobility solution providers to define and refine messaging and go-to-market strategies; for end-user organizations, he provided customized assessment and measurement plans to maximize the value of enterprise mobility investments.
Earlier, Winthrop was the Research Director for Wireless and Mobility at Aberdeen Group, a Harte Hanks company. Over two years, he launched the Wireless and Mobility practice and conducted ground-breaking research to quantify the tangible value of key mobile and wireless technologies, including enterprise mobility strategy adoption, Fixed Mobile Convergence, enterprise WiFi adoption, application deployment on WLANs and more.
Winthrop started his career at GeoPartners research, a boutique strategy consultancy, where he worked on projects including AT&T Wireless’ adoption and migration path to GSM from TDMA. Later, he joined IDC as part of the European IT Services Research group. He spearheaded a wide variety of research and consulting projects for the Top 50 IT Services companies in Western Europe. After IDC, he formed Axle Ventures, a boutique business planning consultancy focused on SMEs. In this role, he consulted with a diverse clientele in eCommerce, healthcare and IT on developing winning go-to-market strategies.
Philippe Winthrop holds a BA in Economics from Boston College, and an MA from Brandeis University, which included studies abroad at Université de Paris IX - Dauphine.
