Four analysts named as top leaders in open source business

Industry analysts from RedMonk and The 451 Group were named among the 2008 Top Leaders in Open Source Business by LinuxWorld, part of Network World, Inc. LinuxWorld describes its list of 13 as "the open source business leaders who matter the most as 2008 begins." It's an impressive list.

The four industry analysts are James Governor, Stephen O'Grady, Michael Coté, all from RedMonk, and Raven Zachary from The 451 Group.

LinuxWorld describes O'Grady, Governor, Coté -- collectively, RedMonk -- as "the premier analyst firm built on open source and open source methods." LinuxWorld recognizes them for their non-traditional approach to providing research and technology insights free of charge, no registration required. The quality of their work is also recognized: "Their blogs are a must read for anyone wanting thoughtful technical and business analysis of the open source industry."

Turning to The 451 Group, LinuxWorld describes Zachary as "a valued resource for investors wishing to track open source opportunities, enterprises to understand open source threats, and the open source industry for market intelligence." The research service he directs, CAOS (Commercial Adoption of Open Source) research is recognized for its current value and forward momentum.

The analysts are in good company. This group of top leaders in open source business includes Larry Augustin, Jonathan Schwartz, John Roberts, Matt Asay, and Marten Mickos.
